Downtown’s Best Honored At The Downtownys

Eau Claire, Wis. – Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. hosted the 9th Annual Downtown Eau Claire Awards - The Downtownys - last night at The Lismore Hotel. Close to 150 business and community leaders enjoyed an elegant evening that included a cocktail reception, plated dinner, entertainment by the Ukulele Club of Eau Claire and a UW-Eau Claire jazz combo, and the awards presentation. Businesses, organizations, and individuals were honored in eight categories.

Highlights of the evening included The Oxbow Hotel & The Lakely winning a record setting number of Downtownys by sweeping three categories - Best Business, Best New Business, and Best New Renovation. First year event The New Year’s Eve Gala & Light Up Eau Claire came out on top in the Best Event category, and Haymarket Landing in Downtown’s South Barstow District won Best New Development.  Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. was honored to present its Outstanding Achievement Award to John Mogensen for his significant and consistent contributions to Downtown Eau Claire.  The Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild and local musician Paul Brandt were honored as Member of the Year and Volunteer of the Year, respectively.

Outstanding Achievement Award

Presented to an individual or organization that has made significant and consistent contributions to the development and advancement of Downtown Eau Claire.

We were excited this year to honor John Mogensen with the Outstanding Achievement Award. An Eau Claire native, John has been instrumental in the continued development of Downtown Eau Claire. In addition to renovating multiple historic properties and owning successful establishments, John has served on numerous boards and committees throughout the years.

 

Member of the Year

Presented to a Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. Member that had a significant positive impact to Downtown and our organization in 2016.

We were excited this year to honor the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild with the Member of the Year Award. The Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild was instrumental in the success of multiple Downtown events in 2016 and was always willing to help with time and resources.

 

Volunteer of the Year

Presented to an individual that had a significant positive impact to Downtown and Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. in 2016.

We were excited this year to honor Paul Brandt with the Volunteer of the Year Award. Paul volunteered countless hours in 2016 working to bring local music to the public speakers in Downtown’s South Barstow District.
